After fighting against mother nature firefighters in Wytheville were finally able to put out a structure fire. It started yesterday afternoon on Cove Road. Chief Ronnie King says a heat lamp fell on a box, caught some debris on fire and then spread to a gazebo near the owner’s home. Damage is estimated at $4,000. King says crews had a difficult time reaching and controlling the fire because it was up on a hill and they had to deal with high winds.
