Nogales Fire Department Hazardous Materials Response Unit - Nogales, Arizona
From Hackney:
The City of Nogales, located on the Arizona and Mexican border, protects a major trade route from the United States into Mexico via Interstate 19. Due to the transportation of hazardous materials into and out of the region, the Nogales Fire Department purchased a Hackney DFC1082 HazMat truck to transport their emergency response equipment. The 19.5-ft body is mounted on a Spartan Gladiator MFD custom cab/chassis and is powered by a Detroit 430 hp, Series 60 Detroit engine.
The Hackney drop/pinch frame technology was selected as a necessity to increase the storage capacity with a minimal wheelbase length. One of the compartment features a slide-out SCBA rack that accommodate eight complete SCBA's with "back-up and go" donning ability. There are also twelve spare SCBA bottles stored in individual storage tubes. Generator power is provided by a 25kw PTO generator protected inside the left front compartment. It powers a KL450 Command Light tower, refrigerator/freezer and numerous strategically placed outlets.
