Indiana County Emergency Management Agency Hazardous Materials Response

Indiana County Emergency Management Agency
Indiana, Pennsylvania

From Hackney:
Indiana County EMA, located just east of Pittsburg in western Pennsylvania, provides hazmat response capabilities for Indiana County and regional state responses. To maximize its capability of transporting all hazmat response and mitigation equipment in a single vehicle, they chose a Hackney 11-compartment hazmat body with recessed roof compartments. The body boast a huge 900 cu.ft. of storage capacity, plus three roof mounted coffin compartments.

The body is mounted on an International 4400 with 330 hp engine and vertical exhaust. A 40,000 watt, 3-phase PTO generator, mounted in the left front compartment to protect it from corrosive PA road salt spray, provides power for a 26.5 cfm breathing air compressor with 20 hp electric motor, NightScan light tower recessed on the roof and four 900-watt upper side body MagnaFire flood lights.

The cast-iron block Ingersoll compressor operates at a quiet 1000 rpm's. A Scott RevolveAir two-bottle fill station can fill automatically through the microprocessor controlled sequencer or manually through the integrated cascade control panel.

All emergency lights, tail lights, clearance lights, compartment lights and rear traffic advisor light bar are LED for low maintenance and amperage draw. The electrical system is full multiplexed with color VISTA LCD control panel on the console.
