Mahoning County Hazardous Materials Response Team in Youngstown, Ohio.

This HAZMAT team is a stand-alone response agency, meaning that it is independent of any fire department or even environmental protection/conservation agency.

The team was founded back in the 1980's and today assists law enforcement at meth labs and responds to toxic leaks.

The team also trains to mitigate incidents involving CBRN.

All members of the team are at the technician level.

Even more, many of the team's members are certified Emergency Medical Technicians.

The team descibes itself as a Level 2 HAZMAT team with many of the qualities needed for a Level 1 response.

The team's response area covers 423 square miles and contains 260,000 people, 4 major interstates, 4 major railways, 5 reserviors, 19 fire departments and many pieces of critical infrastructure not only vital to the county but to the state and even the nation itself.

The team is stationed at 700 Industrial Road, Youngstown, Ohio.

All members on the team are volunteers and do not get compensated for their work in any way.
