Maryland Department of the Environment Emergency Response Team HAZMAT truck. This is MDE's newest HAZMAT response truck.
The truck was sold to MDE by Delmarva Pump Center, Inc. and this is what they have to say about the truck's capabilities:
The chassis for the new unit will be a 2012 Freightliner M2 that will feature an extended cab and
Alcoa LVL One aluminum wheels with a Dura-Bright finish. It will be powered by a Cummins ISC
350 HP motor coupled with an Allison 3000 EVS automatic transmission. A painted, severe-duty front bumper with 21” extension will include a Ramsey 12,000 pound winch, (2) locking storage compartments, recess-mounted Perlux fog lights, siren speakers, and a Federal Q2B siren. The
bumper will also be outfitted with provisions for personnel to use a davit crane.
The 20’ heavy-duty extruded aluminum body will incorporate (7) exterior body compartments that are 26” deep along with a large, walk-in rear storage compartment. All compartments will be coated with a heavy-duty, spray-on liner material to enhance durability, feature numerous shelves, trays, and tool boards, and will be illuminated using On Scene Solutions Night Stik LED lights. The roof area will include a 168” long coffin compartment above the left side compartments and will also house a Command Light CL615 light tower in a fully-recessed, weatherproof enclosure. Another walk-in area at the front of the body will include a work area for personnel with interior storage cabinets.
An Onan Protec 25kW PTO generator will power multiple receptacles, (2) FRC Focus 750W tripod
lights, and (4) FRC Optimum 1,000W quartz lights. Additional lighting will be provided by (5) Whelen Pioneer Plus PFP2 Super-LED lights. Compartment L2 will house (3) ASME 6,000 PSI breathing air bottles and a fill station for SCBA bottles. Other features include Power Arc LED
warning lights, Powercall RDX electronic siren, American Eagle Drawer System in the rear
compartment, (2) air reels, (1) petroleum reel, and a Rosenbauer EZ Climb ladder to access the roof area.
