2-9-3 is a 1974 Mack CF600 engine that was refurbished in 1993. The engine was donated to the team in 2004 from Armstrong World Industries. The engine operates as a foam/decon response unit.
The team is currently working towards FEMA Type 1 hazmat team status. Under the FEMA Type 1 guidelines the team "must be self-sufficient to provide decontamination for members of their team".
The truck carries a variety of decon supplies including decon pools, tubs, brushes, sprayers, hoses, level B & C suits, water and decon solutions.
The engine carries 500 gallons of water, 350 gallons of foam(250 in the onboard tank & 100 in buckets) and over 1000 pounds of Metel-X(sodium chloride) for fighting metal fires.
The engine is equipped with low, medium and high expansion nozzles as well as eductors.
