On 4/25/11 at approximately 1:09pm, Caledonia Fire Dept, Caledonia Ambulance along with automatic mutual assistance from Mumford Fire Dept. responded to 3181 State St. Apt 2 for the reported stove fire. Caledonia Deputy Chief John Pike arrived on scene at 1:12pm with heavy smoke from the back of the structure. Upon further investigation a working fire was declared in the kitchen area of the apartment. Interior crews from Caledonia and Mumford Fire Dept. quickly extinguished the fire. The fire was declared under control at 1:21pm with extensive overhaul to follow. All occupants of the apartment made it out safely. One cat was rescued by Interior Crews and taken to York Animal Hospital for treatment and is said to be doing fine.

Other Fire Departments that responded to the scene or provided fill-ins were: Avon Fire Dept., Avon Ambulance, Churchville Fire Dept, Clifton Fire Dept, East Avon Fire Dept and Scottsville Fire Dept.

The four occupants of the apartment, two adults and two young children are being assisted by American Red Cross. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Village of Caledonia Police Dept.
