The Southern Highlands towns of Mittagong, Bowral, Mossvale. They experience a fire front that comes out of dense 100ft eucalypt forest and accross low dense vegetation. The high winds gives the fire alarming speed heat intensity which melts road surface and thick metal road signage.

In this picture taken at 1300hrs with the fire a little over 1 ml /1.6km away the sun is totally blocked out by the smoke.
