In Australia with rising fuel prices hitting $5.61AUD a U.S Gallon ( 3.74lts)and with the dropping of lead base fuels. New vehicle fuels, fuel combinations & dual fuel or dual powered hybred conversions have been made available, for older style cars. With new cars being fitted factory standed. This car was fitted with an after market dual L.P.G / low octane unleaded gasoline system. The L.P.G tanks in these vehicles vary considerably and often can be dangerous in a fire as some dont have a weak point. The weak point can varys from the age it was installed. Unfortunely there is no real way of telling which tank is installed a bit like russian roulette. A telltail red diamond label on the front and rear number plate is the only way you know if the vehicle on fire is daul fuel or not, these labels burn away, the LPG tank is more often hidden from view. First intercation maybe the high pitch squeal and blue flame from the bypass valve on the drivers side rear wheel but not always the case it can vary too as can locations of the filling points, as in the case of this vehicle.
My station area attends 6 car fires a night mostly stolen and insurance jobs. This car was one of those typical dump cars set alight at 3am fully involve large amounts of smoke, you all know the story, we rockup pull out a high pressure first aid cars totaled no need to go bigger, no jetting flame or high pitch noise, no incator on rear plate.
