Shasta County Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team - Redding, Shasta County, California

From Hackney:
Shasta County, California provides a regional haz-mat response team for Northern California. Due to the huge geographical response area Shasta chose Hackney to design a large capacity response vehicle that was capable of supporting all haz-mat response evolutions from a single vehicle. Roy Cobb, Western Regional Sales Manager for Hackney worked in conjunction with Placer Fire Equipment sat down in the early design phase of the project and developed a concept that not only met the mission that had been envisioned, but also stayed within the designated budget.

The Hackney CRC0882R body was custom designed and mounted on a Spartan 4-door MFD cab with a 10" raised roof that provides a comfortable environment for the team enroute. The body is over 23-ft long with eight exterior storage compartments, a 23-ft long recessed roof storage area and rear command/resource center. The rear command/resource center is climate controlled and features a stainless steel desk and work station and laboratory grade vent hood. The stainless steel work station allows haz-cat operations and facilitates simple cleaning and decontamination. All interior storage cabinets are aluminum.

Electrically deployed awnings are installed on the left and right sides providing additional staging and work zones. Power for the environmental systems is provided by a 25-kw Onan PTO generator mounted inside the left front compartment to protect the system from corrosive road spray. Other equipment powered by the generator include: Will-Burt NightScan multi-directional light tower with six 900-watt MagnaFire flood lights; 900-watt MagnaFire floods on the upper left and right side of the body; two tripod flood lights on the rear body and a 900-watt MagnaFire brow-mounted flood light on the front of the body. Two (2) 240VAC cord reels are provided that splits the power distribution box at the end of the cord into two separate full 30-amp circuits with two twist-lock outlets on each circuit.
