1967 FORD C600 (V8 gas engine) with special purpose bodywork by Thibault/Morysville, was originally built for the Chews Landing,NJ FD. This ex-Utility&Lighting unit saw also service in 2 other Departments until 2006. these were the West Collingswood Heights,NJ FD and later on the Burlington,NJ FD (Hose Co #5-Neptune), from where it was finally retired from active duty and sold for preservation and benevolent display in Portugal (Europe),as an historical piece of apparatus (see, elsewhere, pics of current profile/livery). The rig carried (it still does...) one mid-ship mounted 12,5 Kw ONAN power generator (feeding 8 fixed floodlights) + assorted equipment stored in 9 independent compartments and in the 2 rear box alongside benches. The truck can seat up to 11 firefighters, including 3 in the COE cabin. Picture (courtesy from the Chews Landing,NJ FD) shows the original livery version. When serving the West Collingswood Heights,NJ FD it would often be first due to accidents, along with a FD ambulance, as a first responder (very much ahead of its time for this particular feature...). It was reported as having been, for some time, the best lighting unit/plant in Camden County, responding in that capacity to mutual aid special calls and to civilian duties involving heavy illumination capabilities as well. Really a one of a kind vehicle!See article in the 2008 edition of the Visiting Fireman publication.
