First Flight Air Medical Helicopter was dispatched from a Melbourne Florida Airport to the north side of Port Canaveral on SR 401 for an MVC involving a motorcyclist who was in critical condition. Canaveral Fire Rescue, along with Brevard County Fire Rescue, attended to the patient and set up the LZ on the highway. SR 401 is an extremely busy road with cruise terminals and a fuel farm next to the highway in addition to being the most direct route into Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. “The Cape” had just launched a United Launch Alliance Delta IV rocket a couple of hours before the MVC.
