In 1925, a group of prominent, hard working citizens decided to form a fire company. In 1926, this dream became a reality when a charter was granted to the ROSCOE VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY, INCORP. The orginial building fire station was headquartered in the old borough building and consisted merely of a hand cart, and some hard working citizens. In 1928, the fire company bought its first piece of apparatus, a new American La France Pumper at a cost of $10,000. This truck was delivered to the Roscoe Fire Company by rail. The first fire chief was Samuel Westwood, Sr. The Fire Company quickly outgrew the space provided for them in the Roscoe Borough Building and the men of the fire company went seeking a new location for the company.
In the late 1930's the Roscoe Volunteer FIre Company approached Mrs. Henry Parkins, Sr. about buying her building. This building was purchased and work began to update the building to make it suitable for a fire station. Work began immediately to update the old building for their new home. The building was remodeled with the help of volunteers from both the fire company and the people of the town it served. This building is the site of the current building as it stands today. In 1944, the old Werton Meat Market, located adjacent to the fire company, was purchased and torn down to increase the size of the firehall. By 1946 with hard work and volunteers the truck room was built, under the supervision of Joseph R. King, Sr. In August 2, 1951 , a fire nearly destroyed the Roscoe Fire Company, but once again volunteers helped to rebuild the station. In 1956, the fire company was able to buy two new trucks with all the latest equipment this time. In 1980, additional property was purchased from Mrs. Sadie Mankin and Miss Ruth Werton to enlarge the parking lot. In 2003, the members of the Roscoe Volunteer Fire Company again realized the need to expand its Station. An addition to the 2 bay Truck Room was made that doubled the size of the Fire Station. Today, the Roscoe Volunteer Fire Company consists of a 4 Bay Garage, hose and equipment room, state of the art social hall, large basement, firefighters' lounge, radio communication center, and business offices. The Roscoe Volunteer Fire Company is currently under the guidance of long-time veteran firefighter and Pennsylvania State Fire Instructor Sean T. Whiten.
