A FIRE THAT STARTED IN THE BASEMENT OF ST.HEDWIG CHURCH,
IN CHICAGO DID HEAVY DAMAGE
UNDER THE ALTER SECTION.
THE CHICAGO FIREMEN HAD THE WILL OF GOD ON THEIR SIDE
WHEN THEY ARRIVED,THEY SAW HEAVY SMOKE COMING OUT THE BACK WINDOWS AND DOORS,AND CALLED FOR A 2-11 ALARM.
THE FIREMEN HAD TO WORK THEIR WAY INTO THE BASEMENT IN TEAMS,
TO FIND THE FIRE.
THEY HELD THE FIRE TO THE BACK
SECTION OF THE BASEMENT,BUT THE FIRE STILL BURNED THRU THE FLOOR IN FRONT OF THE ALTER.
THE CHICAGO FIRE DEPT. MADE GOOD USE IN PUSHING OUT THE SMOKE WITH THEIR MOBILE FAN
MOUNTED ON A TRUCK.
