I respect your choice as well as your tactics. However,I'll stick with my own way to battle fire,we have lost too many men not because of heart attack but the collapse engulfing men inside.Good luck, and stay safe.May St Florian stay with you.
I agree with you that we have to make a fast access and initiate an inner attack to reduce the fire damage to both property and victims. The comment you left mentioned if the structure is compromised, firemen can "feel" it by common sense,I call that "the rule of thumb".Of course for many times there has been omen before most of the structures collapse, but not the time.Last years,5 firemen were killed when they were researching victims inside a burning building in the city of Harbin. And 20 years ago,20 firemen were engulfed by collapse in the city of Henyang. Both were proven to be too fast to "feel" the sign of collapse according to the investigation.Mr Dunn,we both got our own camps and way to battle fire, but the danger we face is the same.I do wanna remind you,gut feeling doesn't work always fine, stay outside is to stay safe.If there is no one inside, why should we stand on the roof or get so closed to fire?
I personally suggest not to use stream spray at this fire for the fire almost ruined the ceiling and would collapse any time.Stream spray can destroy the inner structure of the building which has been burning for a while. However, using mist spray to cool down the poles of this building is a better way.More,I think it was too close for the nozzlemen to stay with the fire,if the ceiling collapses......mayday,mayday,fireman down.
