Around 11 am Sparta Fire was dispatched to 191 White Lake Road for the reported structure fire. The dispatcher informed responding units there were several 911 calls for a barn with a heavy smoke condition. First arriving police units quickly confirmed a working fire. The building, a 2 story barn used as a nursery was completely involved upon the arrival of the fire department with a full roof collapse. Units dropped 5 inch hose from a hydrant located 400 hundred yards from the fire.

The fire was under control in about an hour. Fire crews remained on scene for over hall and hot spot containment. Several towns were called in for mutual aid and stand by. There were no reported injuries and the fire remains under investigation by the Sparta Police Department and Sussex county Fire Marshal.
