I remember as watched on TV about these fires. I very much would like to appear there in wood and to help to extinguish a fire.
I very much love Australia. We with a family wanted to go to live there. But have decided to remain in Russia. Protect the nature please.

Backburning is used, but not always. As you said, can be very dangerous. This one had very little surface fuel, but burnt very VERY hot. We had a couple of trucks scorched by the bits that tried to come back towards us.
