BUTLER TOWNSHIP (SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA): On April 30, 2012 at 12:30 hours the Butler Township Fire Department (Fountain Springs, Lavelle and Englewood Fire Companies), Ashland’s ladder and Ashland Ambulance were dispatched to a house fire with entrapment at 796 Fountain Street in Fountain Springs. Fountain Springs Tanker 4-30 arrived to find the unoccupied ranch type home fully involved. The Fountain Springs Fire Chief then requests the second alarm to the scene. The second alarm brought Gordon, Girardville, Frackville-Goodwill ladder truck, Mahanoy City RIT Team and additional tankers. Fire fighters deployed multiple hose lines and mounted a defensive attack. The Additional arriving fire fighters assisted with overhaul and mop up. The fire was quickly knocked down in 120 minutes and under control in two hours with the home being destroyed. The residence was a REVCO Group home that was the home of three special needs individuals. The residents were not home at the time of the fire that was caused by an electrical problem.
