New York Volunteer Firefighter Shot, Killed

A Cape Vincent, New York Firefighter/EMT was shot and killed late Friday night while on the scene of a medical emergency run, News 10 reports. Crews were treating a 25-year-old man when he left the crew, coming back with a rifle. The EMS crew tried to back out of the scene, News 10 reported, but the suspect, Christopher Burke, fired two shots killing Firefighter/EMT Mark Davis, also 25. Davis was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Burke was arrested and charged with second degree murder, WYSR reports. The investigation is ongoing. News 10 reported that Davis was a member of the Cape Vincent Volunteer Fire Department for just over two years. Cape Vincent is about 90 miles north of Syracuse, near the Canadian border. Related
