Outside of Amazing Grace there was another "lament?" played at the 9-11 memorials in NY but I do not recall the name(s). Can anyone help as we are planning a ceremony for the 10th anniversary in 2011?

Thanks

Might be Going Home.

Doug... Like Jason says It Could be "a few" thousand common tunes.. some of the more common NE area laments

Amazing Grace Lord Lovats' Lament
Going home When the Battles over
Will Ye Nae Come back Highland Cathedral
Auld Lang Syne Suo Gan
Mo Ghille Mar

what it comes down to is you have to be able to try to pick something out, there are hundreds of tunes of various ethnic and regimental histories there are a bunch that you wouldnt think of as Laments that surely would surprise lots of folks to hear them played as Laments , IF You find a specific recording or a pipe band playing the tune you have in mind I should be able to identify it and point you in a direction.. find a you tube of FDNY OR NYPD or DCFD or.. anyone playing it and post it here and we can definately get something for you
thanks - I will do some more research and get back to you.
I believe its Going home...slow air
I would like to add a name to a tune which would be "Going Home", now I do not have a copy but surely
someone in the U.S. who plays the pipes would have it . This might be the one played at 9 - 11 . Douglas
you might try a few of these tunes .Another tune is "My Home"; "Amazing Grace" "Nearer My God, to thee"
which is written in pipe music & " When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder ' which is written in pipe music.
If any one is interested , that we have a piper who writes all kinds of Church music. His name is Dr Keith
E. MacDonald, and he has written different books. I would just go on the internet and you might get his
address.
Capt Milfred Harper
It could have been "Going Home" Dawning of the day.......or America....i played with the FDNY at those Funerals and Memorials..there is much you can do...either with a Band oe Solo Piping....Let me know maybe I could give a few Ideas..
Thanks Kevin for the info and offer. I am just now developing a formal proposal to submit to our managment team to even have a ceremony. I see no problem other than attendance by younger people given that the anniversary falls on a Sunday. I hope we can educate them on the importance of never forgetting this tragic event.
It may have also been "Flowers in the forest"
