About Me:
Started in the Spotsylvania Volunteer Rescue Squad, ran as an EMT-B for a few years, then went on to get my NREMT-I. After that I joined Stafford County Fire/Rescue, and they trained me to be a firefighter/DPO/Medic. Then, after winning a fight with menningitis, I got my Paramedic certification and it's been nothing but fun ever since. All I am is due to a very patient and loving wife.

Well, I have to say, I work as a volunteer and as a paid firefighter/medic, and I see big issues with training on both sides of the fence.

On the volunteer side, we only do it when we are required to do it. I try to motivate folks to do at least an hour of training when you run a shift, but the usual excuses of "I work tomorrow," "I'm tired," etc. are generally thrown in.
