Hi I Do It All...My name is Brian and I was wondering if you would give me some advice on writing grants? I volunteer for an ambulance squad in Newark, NJ. I was thinking of taking a shot at writing a grant in order to get $$$ for training, equipment and in the long term would like to get $$$ for a new/used rescue vehicle to start a Lt. Rescue truck running at the squad. Here's my problem, I know other people at squad have tried (years ago) and have always been turned down, that's #1. #2 is that Newark is a large Metro area that already has an EMS division that has Heavy Rescue trucks (we cover an area of the city when in service relieving pressure on them). Do you have any suggestions? I was thinkining of trying for a DHS Grant for equipment and maybe a Fire Grant for training/equipment. We are in no way funded or helped by the State or the EMS division in the city, all of our funding comes from donations and billing when we transport a patient. Any ideas you can give would be appreciated. I was going to try for a grant in 2009 and just want to get some info. Thank you!!!!

it's really not an issue of being bad it's an issue of growth. Personally theres alot of excellent oppurtnities here including housing, family environment and a bottom 10 paycheck which is still a paycheck. My opinion of bad here is that it's atleast a hundred miles of places you would rather be durring retirement.

Check out Roll Call Groups and put some info about your Fire House in... Like to hear what your station is like, what you have as well as for number for firefighters as well as number of calls. Pass it around to your Firefighter Friends too....Easy way to located this group is go to my site and look at the bottom left. Short cut if you have a hard time locating this.

Also as a Training Officer, theres the Trainers Corner too. Like to hear some of what your doing for training or what areas need to be addressed...

Enjoy, and stay safe!
