- Why I Joined Fire/EMS
- My Dad was a Captain with a local FD. I spent my entire life walking around firehouses. All I ever wanted to do is to be a firefighter.
- Top Issues Facing Responders:
- #1 Forgetting to slow down. If there's a fire, it will be there when u get there. If a person calls for a headache, they will still have one when you get there. If YOU don't make it, you help nobody.
#2 Failure to accept change. There are many FD's that have EMS integrated into their service now, and there are some that fail to recognize that that's how the business is now. Trust me, Id much rather be on a fire truck and having a bed to sleep in at night, but Im paying my dues til I get a chance to get on the pumper; and there are some that don't believe we belong there.

Ryan was the Maplewood Firefighter murdered in the line of duty on July 21, 2008 while fighting what they believed to be a routine house fire.

yeah I thought I belonged on the big red trucks to. But I am almost 33 to old to change over. Thats ok I have been doing this for a long time and I dont mind I love it. I was a paid Vol Asst Chief back home befor I came here. So I have had my fun.
