I would like to be a paramedic... my internet friend
recommended me "Mosby's Paramedic Texbook", how I purchased. Very very nice!

Fortunately there is a clear law (for once) on ambulances equipment: it say about type A and B.
A1) advance life support: manual defibrillator, drugs, pulmonary ventilator, and so on. There is only doctor or nurses (in Italy don't exist a professional figure of paramedic);
A2) basic live support: A.E.D., suction unit, spinal board, etc. with volunteer personal;
B) only for the patient transport in non emergency case.
The principal difference between type A and B is the height of the decking. For type A is usually used a Fiat "Ducato" model with the roof top. U can see the specific of vehicles here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Ducato
