John, very cool to hear from a "9/11 Patch" department! I think you will be interest in knowing we are planning a very large 10 Year 9/11 Anniversary event in L.A. and New York (same time) See out temp website: http://memopatch.weebly.com We are also redesigning the patch you are wearing as a 10 Year 9/11 Patch. The one on the site now is the other patch. Spread the word if you can--i need all the help I can get at this point!
wow thats surpriseing to have it quiet with this wether usually i would guess it would be vehicle accident from road conditions or mabe small space heater fires but hope is stays that way for you for a while well take care and stay safe
The CG only has two stations now 1 in Kodiak Alaska and 1 in New York.
I did well in Alaska but the put me there becuse i had an AA in fire science befor i went in to the CG. Th Aire force might have a better plan for FF's a lot of my co workers came from the AF. If you go in make sure you get every ting in writing and make it a contract so if the AF decides to move you to amothe rate you have some leverage. The CG moves you to onother rate only if you want to go. But if you do go CG then DC (damage controlmen) or BM bosans mate are the rates that would put you in one of the fire stations.
Actually have been out on injury past 2 years--healed now but not sure if I'll go back to So Pas. Looking for another department or to run my company www.emergilink.com full time.
sounds like you had a real worker on your hands, glad no one was injured and everyone went home safe, saturday night we had a mutual aid structure fire, we had to hand jack 1,000 feet of 3 inch hose and wyed off with two inch and three quarter, do to the driveway condition, used our 4x4 mule to haul equipment, responded with one tanker, one pumper rescue, mule and man power. minus 1 deg when we got tapped at 9pm. got back home at 1am, home was a total loss. we also have many pack rats in the area. looked at the pictures on your page not sure if that is the fire you just wrote about or not. talk to you later, be safe.
Thanks, I got it right after i finished my academy classes and im never wearing anything else. you lid is really nice
Stay Safe, brotherhood above ALL else
Thanks for the comment. Actually our fires in this area are down but they do seem to be picking back up. I hate it for the homeowners but if it has to happen I want to be there. Stay safe.
Hey John from PA! How the heck are ya? In answer to your questions, I have a couple of mountains in my album. The one playing peek-a-boo with the trees is the Majestic Mt Rainier. What a great back yard, huh? Cross country skiing on my side of the mountain, and Crystal Mountain Ski Resort is on the other side of the mountain.
The other photo where the fire engines are having a water fight between them, is taken at our Fire Training Center in North Bend. Those mountains behind them are facing to the East, towards Snoqualmie Pass. GREAT skiing there!
Hope your winter is keeping you warm and safe! Take care!
Hi John, Glad to hear from you. we average 3-4 tanker accidents a year, thank goodness they all don't end up with fire. yes most of the pictures are recent calls, the one with fire the driver told us that one was trapped but it turned out no to be anyone, the driver was incoherent. had 4 mutual aid companies there. it caught the house on fire but we were able to stop it, it only burnt the exterior of the house. the second rollover was with entrapment lengthly extracation of at least one hour. the car was involed the tanker drove over the car. one fatality. both entrapped no spillage. could not use helicopter on either call do to weather. take care be safe and God Bless. write when you can.
