Now i'm a full time Firefighter/EMT at the Burlington Fire Protection District, doing all i can to prepare myself to move forward with my career.

Good to hear that you're proud of your German heritage. I keep the German traditions, language and culture alive in my family. I speak only German with our son, Sven while my wife speaks english. Who in your family told you about your great great grandparents? I think alot of Americans are of German heritage, but don't know it. So, take care and stay safe. Vielen Dank, Bruder. Horst

Hey Ian- I just joined the website and saw the back page about favorite firefighter books. I live in Malibu, spent 3 years with LACoFD and CalFire preparing a novel about a boy who comes of age as a wildland firefighter at a helitak camp (Camp 8 LA County). The book has been well received and Fire Chief P. Michael Freeman of the LACoFD liked it enough to send it to the County Board of Supervisors.
Perhaps you would enjoy reading it. The title is One Foot In the Black. You can buy it on Amazon or, if you buy it from the online store of the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, they get the profits. http://wffoundation.org/webstore/index.html.
You can see reviews from firefighters on my website
    http://www.kurtkamm.com
Let me know what you think of it.
Thanks, stay safe – Kurt Kamm

Ian- please ignore my message. Some members have determined it is an "ad". Not intended that way, but just foreget it.
