Why I Joined Fire/EMS
Initially fullfilled childhood fantasy. What kid doesn't grow up wanting to be a firefighter. Fortunately, I had a chance to live that dream.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
that those that do not do it, will never understand. How to explain adrenalin rush? Trauma Junkie? How to explain, from the mere sound of a siren miles away, that you know what unit it is.

Safety. Safety. Safety. Recruitment. Funding

That is an awesome pooch you got there....I had a shepherd...I had to give him away when I left for Iraq...Will be getting another when I have time to devote to another K9....

We do not always use a shabrack on our dogs. Especially if we are doing evidence searches or other hush hush operations. So we like to train without a vest as well. This way no matter how we go out, vest or not, they will work on command and of course in Bear's world, with passion. BTW if we are out on the bay or anything with the possibility of rough water, they also have a PFD with leash attachments. Out in the bay on a coast guard boat, we can hit a wave that'll send you up in the air, if the dog is hanging out on scent, overboard they can go.

    Just one!

Amen to that. It's just me and my female paramedic partner too - so you can only imagine. I would imagine that our backs will rebel one day soon.

It was a completly exterior attack. Owner was on location and reported that there was 1000 gal fuel tank and propane tanks in the building. Lots of handlines and a ladder was used. As usual it was set bak from road with poor access. Long lay in from the hydrant.
  • Michele

So in what part of PA is Monroeville? I've only seen a tiny bit of PA when I'v been up to the National Fire Academy. Have you ever had the chance to go there? If your area looks like that area, you live in some gorgeous country!

well, they both have their perks..for now i am finding out the likes and dislikes of the beach...so far it is a great place to hang out, bad to do homework on, great for the tan, bad for the ears and sinuses this time of year..lol so it remains a mystery, though my son and I are loving it so far!! I am still trying to get used to the people over here, but otherwise we are settling in well. Had a great new years, hope the same for you and yours
