that there are alot of people out there that think just beng a volunteer is not the same as being a actual fire fighter but we help people every day too
Thanks for the add and I think that you have just what it takes to do the job. You have heart and desire and the willingness. You will be just fine Debbie.
Best of luck to you in school. You will do fine, just keep going, don't let the bumps in the road slow you down at all. As far as training goes, ask a lot of questions, don't sit back and pretend you understand if you don't. The instructors will be more than happy to help you they just have to know that you need help.
Once in the maze, KEEP GOING, if you feel you are starting to panic, slow your self down and take deap breaths to slow your breathing. Understand that there is nothing in the maze that will hurt you. It is going to suck until you get used to it.
All the best to you, if you have any questions that aren't getting answered, we are all experienced and will help you through it.
Hi, Debbie, thanks for the add! Hope you have a fun time in ff1, I know that I always have fun during trainings. Good luck and best wishes, drop me a line and let me know how things are going.
Thanks for the add. Good luck with the class. As long as you don't give up you will do just fine. I was there myself once. It's not as bad as some make it seem.
Hey Debbie, I am sure you will do fine on your FF1, we just had 8 in my dept take it, including myself and everyone of us passed! I am sure will do fine! Just study, take notes, read your book. It will be a lot of work, but will payoff in the end! :-)
Im pretty new at this too... the most important thing ive learned so far is to listen. Listen to everything the older members and experienced firefighters have to say... war stories, anything. youll learn a lot from them.
Hi Debbie,
Great to meet you. I took FF1 last year it was great. The hardest part for me was being the only older woman. All of the other students were young, skinny kids.
I am heavy and in my mid 30s. You will have no problem. By the way, I am the only women in my company too and I can run circles around quite a few of my guys.....LOL
Debbie:
Just remember: when the tones drop, you're a firefighter first and foremost. Yeah; it's a plus to have physical size and strength, but I have known some who were in great shape, but bugged out when it got down to crunch time. It's heart, spirit and a sense of purpose that will get you through those times.
Set your goals and knock them out one at a time.
Best regards.

Hey, how are you doing. Just to let you know I have taught many female firefighters, and they were just as good as (if not better at times) as the male firefighters
go get em, and be safe. And yes dynamite doses come in small packages
Good luck with ff1 Idon't know about your dept. but in ours after ff2 you can go to the fire school in Bellbuckle, for ff3 this is where you put all you have learned to the test, and have fun while
working tour but off. What ever don't give up it's A great feeling helping other people.
I would like 2 wish u all the best of luck in your classes and if u ever need anything, I'll b glad 2 help u, stay safe, and study hard, the classes r relly mostly common sence and scientific theory.....
