I surely did. No reflection on the previous chief, but I promised to present more classes to our members to educate them on the job.
Since then, we have gone from 3 DOT certified first responders to over 10. We currently have 3 members (I'm one of em) enrolled with the AL Fire College taking the volunteer firefighter 160 course. We have also had classes in Diabetic patient care furnished by AirEvac.
And still we keep plugging along.....
UPDATE-
We now have 15 DOT Certified First Responders and 2 who have passed the Volunteer Fire Fighter 160 course ( I was one). The one who didn't pass only missed by 3 so we're working on him to go retest.
I did set some goals. I wanted to get our dept. and town on an apparatus replacement plan for the long term. Replace our aging failing aerial. Increase training in-house and outside both. Develope a townwide fire suppression plan. Increase our department morale.
