Satation 270 was dispatched to a working Garage fire at 177 Ridge Road.
At appx. 1030 this morning Station 270 and QRS, along with Station 50 for an engine and tanker, along with Amb. 50 were dispatched for a reported working garage fire at 177 Ridge Road in Cleveland Township. While first alarm units were enroute, Locust Twp. PD arrived on scene and advised of a fully involved garage. At this time Chief 270 requested a tanker from Aristes. PD then advised that the fire was threatening a house and a shed. Chief 270 upgraded the box to a second alarm.
Tanker 274 and Engine 273 arrived on scene and found a garage, appx. 50X30, fully involved. The tanker deployed it deck gun on the garage from the rear, while 273 pulled a 1 ¾” preconnect and watered down the house. Tanker 242 arrived on scene and were sent to the rear of the garage and setup several lines. Tanker 353 setup a dump-tank and supplied water to Engine 273. Engine 57 arrived and supplied manpower. Tanker 52 and 274 ran water shuttles being supplied by Eng. 272. Crews searched the house and found only minor heat damage to the siding. After fire was extinguished several local backhoes were brought in and knocked down the remaining brick walls that stood. Crews extinguished remaining hotspots and at 1316 hrs. Chief 270 placed the fire out.
Two civilians sustained minor injuries while attempting to put out the fire. This was the garage and repair shop for Ridge Road Towing. A car, two backhoes, a forklift and all other equipment in the garage were destroyed.
