Also check with your local VFW is you have one. They usually do an annual get together to pay respect to the old flags that people can not properly dispose of.

(k) The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.

I think this is GREAT! Was AD 77-81 at Charleston SC, trained at Chanute. I still love ARFF and am retired from the fire service now. Saw USAF FF from CAFB, with family, today at the North Charleston Fire Museum, said they would participate in hand pumper muster again this year. They came in, against some stiff competition from civilian departs, to take the prize while breaking the distance record and being just short of another record. Shows what USAF FFs can do.
