I just did a training with my crew the other day that went pretty well. We got our hands on the equipment and practiced working together as teams to achieve a goal. I've gotten tired of the typical "lift a car with this bag" training so we took a different approach. You can see some photos and a description of the training on our department web site. (see link below)
That is an interesting training drill. I like the sequential steps in the evolution. The final task is great, and an excellent way to practice putting all the previous skills, as well as teaching proper cribbing techniques.
We tried something similar about 2 months ago... Placed 4 eggs on the roof of a car. Crews had to stabilize, remove 4 doors and perform a dash lift on both sides without losing an egg off the roof of the car. The rings holding the eggs are just big enough to prevent them from rolling off. (A strong breeze would have knocked them off...) Seemed to work pretty well and the guys became extremely conscientous of any movement of the vehicle during evolutions.
great way to get veteran guys working with younger members. Like the creativity of the scenerio. This is just the type group I was hoping for with idea sharing...
