Anyone out there have any roof (ventilation) training prop plans that they can share. Our department would like to build a prop we can reuse for shift training.

Thanks

For those new training officers looking for idea, start by doing a needs assessment of the department. Look at past training history, types or calls the department makes, the training levels of the firefighters and also send out a simple survey to each firefighter asking some basic questions to get their opinion.

From there you can identify commonality in their responses, see trends, determine areas of weakness and strength and so on. You can make the survey anonymous if you so choose.

The biggest thing is don't over extend yourself early on and make sure you focus on quality not quantity. First impressions are everything and if you start out bad as the training officer then it will be hard to motivate the firefighters in the future.

Hello to all brothers and sisters in the fire service.
My best friend and I where just promoted to training officers.
We are trying to get our training off and running on a good not but can't seem to get others to show up. This is the same problem the other training officers had. We feel it is so inportant to train but its so hard to stay positive, anyone got any ideas how to make this work in a positive matter and any good training ideas. We have to do training for 1 hour after meeting and 2 Saturday trainings for members to make one of them. Thank you in advance for your input.
