If you talk to your local lumber yard and tell them what you are doing. They may be able to get you some trusses that have set out to long and they cant sell. Then you can make a 4 foot U out of metal J-channel that you can slide new plywood in. Then you are not destroying your trusses and prop. When we have classes we tell the students to try to bring a 4x4 piece of plywood with them.

Hi Matt,
A good start is with the VFIS Driver Operator course. Classroom with driving practical practical, it's free if your department uses VFIS insurance. I follow that with the IFSTA Apparatus pumping/ driver program. Both are great start for new drivers, but nothing beats practice and hands on training. Good luck.

Car fire prop: We have several salvage yards that will donate junk cars to us. We use them to practice extrication and then car fires. We also use them for just car fires. Call around and see if they will be willing to donate, deliver, and pick up- all for a good cause! Good luck!
