Hey Everyone. I hope everyone is well. I just wanted a little advice on my decision here. I am trying to join a volunteer fire department in or around Lexington, KY where I have my internship. And I wanted to know how all of your experiences have been. Like are they against women, do they accept women and then bench them, how is the training different, etc? Any insight you can give me is appreciated.

I am currently a CERT member in my hometown in IL but I have been trying to transfer to the Lexington, KY CERT while I'm here. I have also done a summer internship with my hometown's emergency management agency and did some work through that with my paid fire department. I also have my basic CPR and first aid certifications. Plus a few from FEMA. So I know enough about the emergency field but not specifically one field over another- if that makes sense.
