I have some questions regarding certifications for a special district Volunteer fire department in California. I live in the special district but i volunteer for the County fire department. The residence of my town including myself are very concerned and worried that the department does not have the proper certs and are not properly trained. I resonded to a structure fire in their district and were the first on scene. when the district fire department arrived they were advised by the IC to relive the interior crew. the district firefighters told the IC that they could not do so because they were not trained. My department has been told not work with the district if we arrive first and to turn them away because we are concerned about our liability. The Special district considers their old certs as valid, with the certs being 6 yrs old or older. So my question is, is there special certs and training requirements for special districts that differ from state minimums or is it the same all around. If you know any sites or locations that i could go to to view this information it would be greatly appreciated.
