Does your tail get bushy when the tone goes off? Do you think the smell of burning wood is an aroma and not an oder? Do you think your pager is broken if it hasn't gone off all day? Do you back into your driveway for quicker exit? Do you download your station's tone dropping to use as a cell phone ring tone? If your gear is clean do you get pissed off? Did you join firefighternation.com? If so, you could be a firefighter "squirrel".

You could be a squirrel if: you can name 5 past of present fire chiefs but can not name 5 past or present Presidents.
MY training officer calls me squirrel. we were doing fire extinguisher training and he was talkin about old brass extingushers and i told him i have 3 of them at home and he looked at me funny, then he was talking about fire hydrants and i tod him i have one of those at home to and he said wow you really are a SQUIRREL arent you! so ever since then he has always called me that.
So there are more people out there like me? Im currently 19 & go to college in another state than where I volunteer but I still get the itch when the local station is runnin calls. Back in high school the school resource officer gave me a pass to get off campus when I had a call. He said that I might as well have an excuse for skippin. Anyone else ever do anything like that or am I too "squirrelly?"
i totally agree with that. my dept is run off a county wide dispatch and all the tone sound the same so every time a tone goes off i run for the car. or how about if you are 15 have 2 scanners and your gear by your bed and have red lights and sirens on your bike.
i tried to do that. my dept is out of town from where i go to school so i tried that for my fathers dept which is an ear shot away from my school. every time the siren goes off or the trucks go by i wish i could be on that call.
