What was your reasoning behind getting a leather?
Hey guys I'm just curious as to why you went with the leather? Was it for the tradition, a promotion, years of service or just because? Just wanted to get an idea because I'm currently looking at breaking into the leatherhead tradition when I finish college at the end of the year (a graduation gift to myself).

I started my career with a MSA in traditional style then 1985 L.A. County Fire Dept. went with a Phoenix nazi style helmet. Ofter 9/11 L,A, County Fire Dept. said we could buy New York style helmets to use while on duty. I bought a Carins

I wanted a leather for tradition. A town near by had a few members with leathers, and I just felt a leather was a little easier to notice on the fire ground than the tupper wear helmets. The rest of the dept uses a 1010,1044 or a bulard. I find it more comfortable than the plastics.
