I have a question. I heard that according to the new NFPA standard on gear says that eye protection no longer has to be on helmets.

Is this true? Can anyone shed some light on this subjest?

To me it makes sence to keep your safety glasses or goggles in your pockets. If they are on your helmet they can get melted, smoked up, scratched during fire ground operations. I guess that is good for the guys that make goggles but bad for us if we have to replace them every couple of months.

Good follow up Josh with making sure that everyone understands that their eye protection has to be NFPA compliant itself. That seems to be a common misconception. Folks are of the impression that if their eyes are covered, they're good-to-go. Thats not the case.
