any person with an emt license can be hired by either service. there are a few objective differences. first, the hours. medstar is 24s and abbott is 10, 12, or 14. second, when you start at medstar you go straight to estl. when you start at abbott you run bls for awhile. so, the decision is yours. dont forget tho, if you go one place and dont like it, you can always try the other. hope this helps!
ok let me get whatcha saying here...Medstar: 24/48, estl-running on a BLS truck
Abbott: i get the different shifts (i like the 12's if it is a 4/3 shift) what i need more clarification on is "run bls for awhile" what exactly does that mean...a transfer truck, run bls 911 with als assist? i know i know...i'm making this out to be more difficult than it is. I guess i need more clarification with shifts at Abbott. I guess I shall do some investigating...

to be cont...
I like some of the people from both places but i think abbott is going to get better now that they have been bought out by AMR they are a national company so chance for moving to a better place is much better.
