Please take a few minutes and read the attached file and comment back. Good or bad I want to hear it. Keep in mind our current SOP on driver training is 10 years old and so vague that anybody could get behind the wheel, so we are basically starting from scratch. Since I have wrote it there have been a few things that I have thought off adding and or changing, but I am meeting some resistance on it in house. that is why I'm putting it out there to get outside opinions.
That looks pretty sound to me. However, I am still pretty new to the department. Here, we have to have EVOC as well as a State-approved Driver-Operator course. Our department has a test on driving, pump operations, and field problems. This test is given by the chief. I have been told that our officers intend to start breaking me in on driving the squad and the tanker(I'm one of the few to join recently who can drive a stick), although I've made it clear that I don't care if I ever drive a truck on a call, but I will if I have to.
