Amador Fire Protection District
We have 1 full time paid chief, 2 full time paid prevention guys, 1 full time paid secretary, 1 full time paid BC, 9 full time paid Engineers, 4 full time paid Firefighters, and approx. 65 volunteers on our department and 10 stations. Our department is split into 3 areas but includes approx. 85% of the unincorporated land in Amador County, CA. The other unincorporated areas are taken care of by special fire districts. We don't respond to all the unincorporated areas though because of where are stations are located. We have very comprehensive Automatic Aid and Mutual Aid contracts with all the special districts and the city's who take care of the areas that are not feasible for us to respond to.
Our station locations are 2 in Pine Grove, 1 in Pioneer, 1 in Buckhorn, 2 in Sutter Creek (incorporated city special contract), 1 in Amador City (incorporated city special contract), 1 in Willow Creek, 1 in Plymouth (incorporated city special contract), and 1 in Fiddletown. Out of those 9 stations we have 32 pieces of equipment including chief's rigs.

Amador Fire Protection District was originally 9 separate fire departments, not including the city's under special contract, that formed together in the 1990's to form AFPD. The FD's in the incorporated city's date back to the 1800's and have been all volunteer since then until they just recently hired people to make AFPD a combi. department.
Throughout all of these stations we run approx. 2300 - 2800 calls a year most of them medical aids.
