Since I'm in two departments, might as well give stats for both.
The Forsyth County Fire Department is where I am employed full-time. Its a rather unique department, and has been around since 1951. It is unique because the entire county is not a part of the county fire department. Only stations 9, 20 and 21 have county paid employees. The main station is Station 9 at the Smith Reynolds Airport in Winton Salem, NC. The members at Station 9 are responsible for ARFF. Also, our county rescue truck, 109, runs out of this station. 109 is primarily used as manpower to compliment the volunteer stations, but runs any fire alarms, structure fires, or any type of entrapment. 109 runs approximately 1000 calls per year. I work at Station 21/20. We run approximately 500 calls a year. There are 4 paid persons at Station 20/21, one per shift and a swing man. There are probably 30 volunteers. We basically compliment the volunteer personnel. We have 3 pumpers of which two are tanker/pumpers, a rescue truck, a tanker, and two brush trucks. We also house the county's trench collapse truck.
I also work/volunteer for the Clemmons Fire Department. We have two stations, stations 10 and 14. We run approximately 1500 calls per year. We have four engines, one of which is a rescue pumper, an ambulance, a brush truck, and a squad/rescue vehicle, and hopefully soon, a ladder. We have 10 paid personnel, three per shift and a swing man. There are about 30 volunteers
