Past Assistant Fire chief Montie Spriggs served from 1960 through 1980.. Chief Spriggs helped the department and the community in many ways, he helped install and run the wireing to the fire boxes placed throughout the valley township area. He was well respected for his fire service years and also a very well respected person in the community. Montie worked at home and worked on other peoples broke down tractors and mowers, weed eaters ect. and wouldnt ask for no more then just enough money to cover parts he would give u the shirt off his back if u was cold.. he was a loving father, brother, husband and just the perfect example of a very well rounded civil person that everyone looked up to...please keep the family and friends in your prayers...
