300 students! That's nice.

As I said earlier, in Texas, which is the only place they have them in this area, weekend fire school attendence is on the decline. All 3 in northeast TX have cuts classes in the past few years.

It's real good to see that the NCIFS is still thriving.

Maybe you need a guest instructor from LA one of these years?

Just out of curiousity, what kind of classes are you offering this year?

Unfortunatly, there are no such regional school animals in Louisiana, with the exception of one that is held in the extreme southern part of the state, near Lake Charles.

One occasion, the LSU Fire training facility will have a municipal school up at the campus about 10 miles from us, which features 3 or 4 hands-on firefighting classes.

The northeast Texas area has a couple that are held in the spring, including one at the Kodak Eastman facility that features a 4 industrial prop fire stations on Monday night. The other is primarily a resue and extrication school. Both have seen decreases in attendance over the past few years and have been scaled down probably 50%, in terms of classes, over that time.

Hi Bob,
Nice to hear from you and it sure would be nice for a past instructor to visit. We have a lot of new members on the board but some of the older guys are still around.
We lost Dick Baker 3 years ago he passed away.
Most of the older Instructors still come each year.
This will be 40 years of school and it's still going strong.
If you ever make it up again drop in. As you may recall the school is always held on the first full weekend of June.
Have a good one and stay intouch.
Joe.

Just a hello from a former Vermonter, multi-year NCIS attendee and NCIS Instructor (2 years) now living in Louisiana.

I miss the north country and miss the fine instruction and international flavor of the NCIS. I especially enjoyed my 2 years as an instructor as it was a great chance to find out how things are done north of the border.

I'm still teaching classes down here both regionally to other neighboring departments, as well as every once in a while for the local LSU Fire and Emergency Training Institute, LA Arson and Fire Prevention Association and state Firefighters Association.

Ya'll keep up the good work and maybe one of these days when I'm visiting my kids in Burlington I'll have a chance to pop in on the school and see how it's progressed.
