We have begun winterizing the equipment. It is time to put to bed the tractor plows and type fours. It will be snow covered soon and fire danger is gone. Smokey can take a nap dreaming of the blue berries which will blossom once again in spring. Rx burn accomplishments were met, fire responses were low, a study of the Fire program for "re-tooling" complete. Budget constraints continue to plague the state, but we will come out of winter refreshed, renewed, and ready to begin a new season again. So on with the trainings, prevention, and maint. ‘til the columns fill the sky again. Be well fellow "wildlanders", enjoy your short reprieve.

As fire season approaches, one needs to begin the mental work out. Especially in these lean years with short falls in budgets, holding positions open, and low morale it is time to remeber why we are here. To provide a public service with life safety as first priority. Be well and keep your laces tight.
