ok lets try something here...  lets say its approx 1 am and your department is dispatched to a reported structure fire... upon your arrival you discover a new england style 3 decker with heavy smoke on number 1 floor and moderate smoke on the number 2 and 3 floor. using only resources in your department describe your plan of attack... everything from where you believe the fire would be in such type of building and smoke conditions. apparatus placement and operations of such apparatus...

basicly im trying a size up and tatic type training exersize to see if it works with us and can be applied if desired at our departments...

thanks for participating and have fun wth this if you have one you would like to try please do ...

after doing a 360 of the structure and noting the smoke conditions throughout the building , type off construction (wood balloon frame), volume of smoke. i would first strike a second alarm to bring in more man power in case the fire desides to walk.
judging by the smoke i would say its ither a basement fire or a room and contents on number 1 floor. a 2 1/2 attack line will be stretched by first in engine to the fire floor a search will be conducted by a second engine or ladder company pending arrival order second engine to feed first engine for the attack pending location of nearest hydrent. first in engine will do a three sided view if possible followed by 360 walk- around by the OIC. the ladder co. will be placed in the less obstructed area possible (away from wires, trees etc.)and set up for vent and or search.third in engine to check for exstension of fire on number 2 and 3 floor fourth in engine to provid R.I.T.
