All I can answer to this post is German last name...

My maiden name (father's side) is Hess, and I am not quite sure but I think that it was originally spelled Hesse. My mother's side of the family is also German and have the Hartman name. My Grandmother (father's side) was a Creamer.

As far as I know my father's family were always located in Berkeley and Jefferson Counties in eastern West Virginia, my Grandfather' family (mother's side) were located in Hampshire County, West Virginia.
I'm not a German firefighter in America but I hope you'll forgive me for that. I did serve in the German fire serive though for 5 years in the town of Halle in Westfalen. I joined after I left the army whilst serving out in Germany and I still go back to the station every year for guys Christmas party at the first weekend in Dezember. I'm now an honorary firefighter at Halle fire station.
In addition to this, I did an international firefighter exchange in 2001 and served in the city of Bochum, during this time I wrote a study on Disaster Management in the Federal Republic of Germany.
I am a fluent German speaker and represent Great Britain as part of the Fire Service International Youth Leaders Commission as the translator. This is because all of the commission work is done in the German language, regardless where in the world they meet.
Weber and I'm not sure what part of Germany my folks came from.Great-Great grandparents came over from the old country. From NW PA.
