Call of duty

Jeremy "pyro" Phillips

As the bell rings on any day,
We leave our station with few words to say,
We don our gear and roll on our way,
Not thinking twice that it is Christmas day,
We roll on scene with our sirens and lights,
only to find a dizzying sight,
A house is burning with intense flames and heat,
A lady comes running with tears in her eyes
"My child is still inside!" she screams and then breaks down and crys,
The first team goes on air and goes inside,
Searching every place that a child could hide,
As they round a corner, they hear faint cries,
and there sat a little girl with tears in her eyes,
The team grabbed her up and kept her safe from harm,
outside to her mother and warm loving arms,
As fast as they came out, they went back again,
to the firey pits of hell, that was almost the girls end,
The mother says to her daughter, please dry your eyes,
we owe our prayers, to the firefighters still inside,
Our home may be burning, our gifts are all gone,
but we need to pray, that these firefighters all make it home,
Their treat the hurt, and protect us from harm,
they are all underpaid, but still respond on every alarm,
The passion of a firefighter runs deeper than you know,
and though they are tired, they won't let it show,
I knew in my heart, they would save you from harm,
and now that your safe, we can move on,
but you need to pray for them, every single nite,
That they make it home, from every alarm and fire that they fight.
