We have been looking to see who is the oldest vol. fire dept. in Arkansas any ideas on how to find out?

Wow, Interesting question.. I would say, begin with the library, 1st take a look at the large population centers "historically" Lil rock and such and delve into they'
re pubished histories look at any areas that may have been large population centers thatmight have been affected by natural disasters and ultimately no longer are pop centers and the step after that would be going down thelist of historical records counties town villages etc.. and I wont kid you itsoundslike a huge amount of work and research and it will be...Is there a stateFire organization? They may already know generally who are the oldest groups in the state (since Organization) on those areas which could help you begin to focus on other populated areas that might have changed historically ( natural disaster, Mining community that went bust those types of places) good luck.. researching and discovery are 1/2 the fun..
